Meet the new member of the Vibe family!

The Grand Music Award (GMA) is the highest form of state recognition in the field of music in Latvia.

Every year the Ministry of Culture celebrates outstanding musical achievements with a special prize given to selected artists at the Grand Music Award ceremony.

The annual ceremony always takes place at the Latvian National Opera House and is broadcasted by Latvian Radio 3 Klasika and by Latvian National Television.

Lighting Operator Māris Sējāns has been using Compulite products for the important event for years, originally working with the Ovation. Nowadays, he uses Vector Red as the main lighting console and Vector Green as a backup and travelling console.

"Vector Red is very intuitive and predictable", says Māris "we didn't have any training so I had to learn it mostly myself. When I needed to use certain features for which I had no written instructions, the first way I tried usually worked."

Vector Red was used to control the entire 2018 Grand Music Award lighting set consisting of: Clay paky Scenius spots x4, Clay Paky Alpha Profile 700 x16, Clay Paky B-eye K-20 x8, Clay Paky Alpha Wash 1500 x2, Dortron LED wash x30,

Elation SixBar 1000 x20 as well as some conventional lights.

Māris: "At the end of the day anything we need in order to operate a lighting set properly can be done one way or another, using the Vector family".

Tú sí que vales is an Italian competitive talent show broadcast in prime time on Channel 5, run by the largest commercial broadcaster in the country; Mediaset Group.

The contestants who participate in the competition must have a skill such as singing, dancing, acrobatics or anything else. Each contestant is then judged by three experts:

Maria De Filippi, Gerry Scotti and Rudy Zerbi, and the winner of the program wins 100,000 euros!

One segment in the show featured Aerogravity, the biggest free-fall simulator in the world, allowing those who enter the vertical tunnel to "fly".

This segment was filmed in a structure with a transparent cylinder in which a strong vortex of air was created, requiring a lighting console which could successfully control an external video shooting lighting set.

After careful consideration Compulite's Vector Red was finally chosen; the firstborn console in the Vector family, programmed to deal with the most challenging lighting tasks!

"Working with Vector Red is always nice", says Lighting Operator Alessandro Soster, "Generally, I choose the console based on the work I'm going to do, the type of event and availability of the rental company.

For this event, I had the chance to receive an upgrade with Vector Red!"

Vector Red was used to control: Clay Paky Scenius Profiles, DTS Evos, DTS Nick 1401s, DTS Fos 100 Dynamics, ETC 50° Source Four LEDs and 6 ARRI L7Cs.

Salto Natale is a world famous circus in Zurich, Switzerland. It was founded in 2002 by Gregory and Rolf Knie, co-owners of the Swiss National Circus.

The Knie family is the most famous circus family in Switzerland, making over 200 years of circus history. The family is even considered one of the oldest and most renowned circus dynasties in the whole world.

When Gregory and Rolf Knie founded Salto Natale they wanted to reach new standards of creativity and turn the circus into a more modern experience.

The circus is an annual show, opening its doors to audiences for two and a half months every winter.

Lighting Designer Jacques Rouveyrollis and his assistant Jessica Duclos were faced with the challenge of creating a lighting set which would both emphasize the talented performers and mesmerize the audiences.

For this, the circus was in need of a sophisticated lighting console.

After careful consideration Rouveyrollis, along with Programmer and Operator Diego Diaz Criado, selected Compulite's Vector Ultra Violet to control 21 mac vipers, 16 JB-Lighting Sparx10, 12 JB-Lighting Sparx7, 10 JB-Lighting p7 and 1 láser tarm 7.

They added two Compulite ePort-41s to convert the Ethernet to DMX-512 and vice versa and the lighting set was finally complete.

The Salto Natale Circus has been using Compulite products for years, as former Programmer and Operator for the circus Sebastia Coll used Sabre and Vector Blue to control the lighting set in the past.

The winter circus has been running since November 15th, 2017 and it will be closing on January 3rd, 2018, so if you happen to be in Switzerland don't miss it!

Special thanks to Diego Diaz Criado for sharing.

"Cossi Fan Tutte", Mozart's scandalous opera debuted in Haifa, Israel in October.

The opera was performed by the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and organized by ETHOS – The Haifa Municipality Art, Culture and Sports Association Company. It was conducted by Ethan Schmeisser and directed by Shirit Lee Weiss.

Both professionals led a cast of extremely talented singers, including: Elinor Zon, Anat Cherny, Eitan Drori, Yair Polishok etc.

"Cossi Fan Tutte" (Italian for "Thus Do They All) is an opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The opera revolves around the loyalty of women - tested by the characters as the story unfolds.

The engaging scenes and powerful music required a unique and dynamic lighting set with a high quality console.

After careful consideration lighting designer Yehiel Orgal finally decided to use Compulite's Vector Red to control 50 moving lights and 50 conventional lights.

Vector Red is the firstborn console in the Vector family; it provides the ultimate power to deal with any lighting program challenges, easy and fast.

The Russian Institute of Theater Arts – GITIS is the largest and oldest theatrical academic arts school in Russia. The organization holds cultural, educational and scientific activities on a regular basis and includes a student theater.

The Gitis theater features 3 or 4 shows every month so that the students can learn the art of theater in the most practical way, recently presenting "The Philistines", "La Scala" and  "Love for three oranges".

The theater uses 3 Compulite consoles, switching them depending on the needs of each production: Vector Blue, Spark 4D and Ovation 4D.  The consoles control dozens of dimmers, projectors, spotlights and moving heads.

A few years ago producer Maor Maimon decided he wanted to bring a fun, fresh new treat to Israel and as a result, Hairspray the Musical premiered in the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center in summer 2017,

performed in Hebrew by a very talented cast.

Over the years the Tony award winning Broadway sensation has captured the hearts of millions worldwide with its memorable tunes and charming lyrics. The musical is set in the 1960s and features countless colorful scenes.

This served as a challenging task for Lighting Designer Keren Granek, who wanted to illuminate the stage in the most exciting way possible.

With over 120 lighting fixtures provided by Kilim Electronics Ltd., including 50 conventional lights, 75 moving lights as well as LED fixtures, Keren Granek developed a special and dynamic lighting set, operated by Elad Ratzon.

The challenging set was programmed and controlled by Compulite's famous Vector Red console. "It was great working with Vector Red" says programmer Ronen Ben-Harosh, "It is a luxury to have a large console with 3 touchscreen monitors,

20 direct motorized Playbacks and 20 Q-Keys Playbacks, along with other great features like; a quick soft patch, an easy effects engine and so much more."

The whole rig of fixtures and other devices were controlled via Ethernet, using Compulite's e-Port 41 converters. Ben-Harosh: "Working with e-ports is a big advantage, it allows you to easily setup and make changes in data control,

especially when using the C-Net manager application. Lighting operator Elad Ratzon prepared the patching, installed the e-Ports, including the DMX Splitters, from the stage to the Ethernet network Hub and from the Hub to the console,

using one cable only. For real time Back-up, we used a Laptop with Compulite's Vector PC software, connected to the same Ethernet network Hub, running the great Master/Slave function."

"As for the data protocol," Ben-Harosh continues, "we used Compulite's VC protocol. It is the preferred protocol when using Compulite products, making the whole Ethernet network operate in perfect harmony.

Compulite's VC protocol is very light and reliable compared to other data protocols."

Hairspray is a heartwarming, bubbly, sweet and inspiring show, sure to provide a night of fun for audiences of all ages, anywhere on the globe. The Israeli audience is certainly no exception.
